I had a conversion with the Mayor of a small community in Northern Ontario, and asked him why his townsfolk preferred to live there. And he said;
“I listen to my constituents and I do my best to act on their concerns. I listen to their ideas. I attend their events and connect with them as often as I can in groups and one on one. I try to treat people the way I want to be treated. I treat them like family, with respect. My job is to serve them because that’s why they elected me to be their Mayor.”
I admired this man’s approach and that he regarded and treated his community as his family. We can build communities that allow us to share our story, feed our spirit, and nurture our personal growth, too, based on this solid positive advice.
